Job summary

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board in Wales is seeking a Registered Mental Health Nurse to undertake the Band 7 Ward Manager role on the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit at Royal Glamorgan Hospital.

The post requires post-registration experience at Band 6 with strong leadership, communication and organisational skills. You will lead a team, contribute to teaching and CPD, and foster service development within CTM values. Welsh language skills are desirable.

• Evidence of continuing professional development is required and you must have a commitment to teaching.

Responsibilities

• The post holder will carry twenty-four hour continuing responsibility for the management of the respective ward.
• Deliver a quality nursing service to all patients in their care, ensuring resources are used to optimum effect.
• Devising and implementing policies and procedures for the ward to ensure high standards of patient care.
• Ensure safety and welfare of staff through health and safety policies and support staff training and development.
• Assist the Senior Nurse in developing systems to monitor quality of care and clinical practice.
• Deputise as necessary for the Senior Nurse and maximise staff performance.
• Welsh language ability is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are welcome.

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Mental Health Nurse to undertake the role of a Band 7 Ward Manager on our Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit at the Mental Health Unit, Royal Glamorgan Hospital

The post holder will carry twenty-four hour continuing responsibility for the management of the respective ward. The post holder will be highly experienced in inpatient mental health nursing.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering a quality nursing service to all patients in their care, ensuring that all resources are used to optimum effect.

They will be responsible for the devising and implementation of policies and procedures for their ward, which will ensure the highest standards of patient care within existing/current resources and which will ensure the highest standards and mission of the UHB.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the safety and welfare of staff through the observance and implementation of Health and Safety Policies and also assist them in identifying and achieving training and developmental needs through the implementation of UHB policies and procedures.

Assist the Senior Nurse in developing systems and processes to monitor:- quality of care adherence to UHB polices and procedures clinical practice.

Deputise as necessary for the Senior Nurse.

Maximise the performance of all staff within delegated areas.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
