Job summary

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board invites applications for a Deputy Ward Manager on Tegid Ward, Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor. You will support ward leadership in a busy General Surgery setting and drive high standards of patient care.

We seek an enthusiastic RGN (Band 5) with surgical experience, strong leadership, and commitment to staff development. Welsh and English speakers are welcome to apply.

Qualifications

• RGN with band 5 level experience.
• NMC registration with experience in surgical circumcision.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Evidence of leadership or change management module.
• Evidence of degree or working towards.
• Good clinical knowledge of acute setting.
• Clear governance understanding.
• Desirable: phlebotomy and cannulation.
• Evidence of carrying out audit.
• Staff management experience - off duty / sickness and absence.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage day-to-day ward operations.
• Oversee staff appraisals, sickness and training support.
• Ensure high clinical standards and patient care.
• Provide leadership in absence of Ward Manager.

An exciting, developmental opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Ward Manager to join Tegid Ward in Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, Gwynedd, North Wales.

Main duties of the job

Tegid Ward is a busy 30 bedded ward which specialises in General surgery. The nursing team is proactive and innovative with a wealth of knowledge in this specialised field.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our busy and dynamic nursing team. This is a demanding role that requires commitment and a positive leadership approach towards change. You will have excellent communication skills and high clinical standards with a passion to make a difference for patients and staff alike. Managing and controlling the activities of the ward in an effective and efficient manner.

All applicants are expected to keep with new initiatives and interventions within nursing care. The Deputy Ward Manager is expected to continue the running of the ward in the absence of the ward manager. Providing support with staff appraisals, sickness and training support.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
