Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust in Harlow is seeking a Housekeeping Supervisor to lead and train housekeeping staff on wards, ensuring high standards of food safety and allergen awareness. The role requires flexibility to cover shifts due to leave or sickness in the supervisory team.

The supervisor will oversee rotas, uniforms, appraisals, welfare and discipline, and ensure safe, hygienic ward kitchens with proper waste handling and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising housekeeping staff and delivering on-the-job training.
• Ensuring high standards of food safety and allergen awareness in patient-facing services.
• Ability to plan shifts, cover sickness/annual leave and manage rotas.
• Promotes compliance with Health and Safety policies, COSHH and fire regulations.
• Experience with incident reporting or near-miss systems (e.g., DATIX).

Responsibilities

• Manage and train housekeeping staff delivering Food and Beverage Services on wards.
• Issue uniforms, carry out staff appraisals and manage workload allocation.
• Create rotas to cover annual leave and sickness and supervise with shifts.
• Check ward kitchens, waste disposal and delivery presentations for patients.
• Ensure adherence to safety, hygiene and allergen guidelines in daily operations.
• Attend trainings and liaise with Heads of Departments and Ward Managers.
