Job summary

Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital hosts a Ward Host Supervisor role within Sodexo, leading end-to-end ward catering to patients, staff and visitors. You’ll steer a capable team, manage rotas and duties, and uphold high service standards in a fast-paced hospital setting.

You’ll ensure menus meet dietary needs and allergens, maintain safety records, and collaborate with hospital management to resolve issues promptly. This role combines leadership with a patient-centered service mindset.

Qualifications

• Experience in a supervisory role within healthcare, hospitality, catering or a similar customer-focused environment.
• Commitment to providing excellent service and creating a positive experience for patients, visitors and colleagues.
• Good knowledge of food safety, health and safety, infection prevention and control, and allergen management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the day-to-day ward catering service, ensuring patients, visitors and colleagues receive a safe, high-quality and welcoming experience.
• Supervise and motivate ward catering teams, allocating duties, supporting rotas and ensuring standards.
• Oversee preparation, presentation and service of meals and beverages, including dietary requirements and allergen management.
• Maintain records and support reporting on food safety, temperature, stock and wastage.
• Collaborate with hospital management to resolve issues and ensure timely service.
• Provide administrative support when the Business Manager is out of the office.
• Support a positive customer-focused culture by handling feedback professionally and promoting high standards.

As a Ward Host Supervisor with Sodexo, based at Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital, you’ll take the lead in delivering high-quality catering services in a dynamic healthcare environment. What you’ll do:

• Lead and support the day-to-day ward catering service, ensuring patients, visitors and colleagues receive a safe, high-quality and welcoming experience.
• Supervise and motivate ward catering teams, allocating duties, supporting rotas and ensuring everyone works to the required standards.
• Oversee the preparation, presentation and service of meals and beverages, including supporting patients with dietary requirements and allergen management.
• Monitor standards across ward catering and related service areas, carrying out checks and taking action where improvements are needed.
• Maintain accurate food safety, temperature, stock, wastage and service records, using systems to support effective reporting.
• Work closely with hospital management and other teams to resolve issues, respond to requests and ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently and on time.
• Provide administrative support while Business Manager is out of office
• Support a positive customer-focused culture by handling feedback professionally, promoting excellent service and helping the team deliver a consistently high standard of care

What you bring:

• Experience in a supervisory role within healthcare, hospitality, catering or a similar customer-focused environment.
• A genuine commitment to providing excellent service and creating a positive experience for patients, visitors and colleagues.
• Good knowledge of food safety, health and safety, infection prevention and control, and allergen management.
• Confident leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate, support and develop a diverse team.
• Strong organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and remain calm in a busy hospital environment.
• Good attention to detail, with a proactive approach to maintaining standards, identifying risks and resolving issues.
• Basic to intermediate IT skills and the confidence to maintain records, use ordering/reporting systems and communicate effectively by email and telephone.
