Job summary

Sodexo, at Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital, is seeking a Ward Catering Assistant to deliver nutritious meals to patients and maintain clean, safe dining areas. You’ll support dietary requirements, ensure accurate service, and uphold hospital food-safety standards.

You will join a positive team, focused on patient wellbeing, with on-site shifts and a 5/7 rota. Training and development are provided along with Sodexo benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role or willingness to learn.
• Positive, reliable and caring approach with genuine patient service.
• Good communication and listening skills; team player.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Commitment to high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness.
• Good timekeeping and reliability; flexible to support team.
• Willingness to learn and complete required training.
• Food Safety Level 2 certificate (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Deliver a friendly, high-quality meal service to patients with dignity and care.
• Prepare, assemble and serve patient meals, including special dietary needs.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and infection control.
• Complete temperature checks, quality records and other documentation.
• Keep ward kitchens and equipment clean, safe and stocked.
• Assist with stock rotation, waste reduction and safe transport of food trolleys.
• Work as part of a team and support other catering duties as required.
