Job summary

Nuffield Health Brighton Hospital in Brighton is seeking a Ward Catering Assistant to deliver nourishing meals for patients, while maintaining high hygiene standards and patient comfort. You will join a Sodexo team focused on quality service and wellbeing, supporting dietary needs and infection control.

This part-time role offers 18 hours per week across a 3-day pattern with various shift times. Training, uniform and on-site facilities are provided to help you thrive in a caring hospital

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role or willingness to learn.
• A positive, reliable and caring approach, with a genuine desire to provide excellent service to patients.
• Good communication and listening skills, with the ability to work well as part of a team.
• The ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and work efficiently.
• A commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness.
• Good timekeeping, reliability and a flexible approach to supporting the team.
• A willingness to learn and complete required training, including maintaining mandatory standards.
• A Food Safety Level 2 certificate (or equivalent), or a willingness to achieve this.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a friendly, high-quality meal service to patients, ensuring dignity, care and excellent customer service.
• Prepare, assemble and serve patient meals accurately, including special dietary requirements.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and infection prevention in line with hospital and company policies.
• Complete food temperature checks, quality records and other required documentation accurately.
• Keep ward kitchens, catering equipment and work areas clean, safe and well stocked.
• Support stock rotation, waste reduction and the safe transportation of food trolleys.
• Work as part of a team, following instructions and helping with other catering duties as required
