Job summary

Sodexo Group is hiring a Ward Catering Assistant at Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital to deliver patient meal service, maintaining high safety standards and assisting in kitchen and dining areas.

You will prepare and serve meals, respect dietary requirements, and support a clean, safe ward environment with a cheerful, patient-focused approach.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role or willingness to learn.
• Positive, reliable and caring approach.
• Good communication and listening skills.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Commitment to high standards of food safety and cleanliness.
• Good timekeeping, reliability and a flexible approach.
• Willingness to learn and complete required training.
• Food Safety Level 2 certificate (or willing to achieve this).

Responsibilities

• Deliver a friendly, high-quality meal service to patients, ensuring dignity, care and excellent customer service.
• Prepare, assemble and serve patient meals accurately, including special dietary requirements.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and infection prevention in line with hospital and company policies.
• Complete food temperature checks, quality records and other required documentation accurately.
• Keep ward kitchens, catering equipment and work areas clean, safe and well stocked.
• Support stock rotation, waste reduction and the safe transportation of food trolleys.
• Work as part of a team, following instructions and helping with other catering duties as required

• Shift Times: 6:30 – 14:00 / 13.00 – 21:00 - on a rota basis

• A willingness to learn and complete required training, including maintaining mandatory standards.
• A Food Safety Level 2 certificate (or equivalent), or a willingness to achieve this.
