Job summary

Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital in Bournemouth is seeking a Ward Catering Assistant to prepare and serve nutritious meals that aid patient recovery while keeping kitchens and dining areas clean and safe. You will deliver high-quality patient service, manage dietary requirements, follow food safety standards, and work as part of a friendly Sodexo team on a 5 days out of 7 shift pattern.

• Previous experience in a similar role or willingness to learn.
• Positive, reliable and caring approach with a genuine desire to provide excellent service.
• Good communication and listening skills and ability to work well in a team.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and work efficiently.
• Commitment to high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness.
• Good timekeeping, reliability and a flexible approach to supporting the team.
• Willingness to learn and complete required training, including maintaining mandatory standards.
• Food Safety Level 2 certificate (or equivalent) or willingness to achieve this.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a friendly, high-quality meal service to patients, ensuring dignity, care and excellent customer service.
• Prepare, assemble and serve patient meals accurately, including special dietary requirements.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and infection prevention in line with hospital and company policies.
• Complete food temperature checks, quality records and other required documentation accurately.
• Keep ward kitchens, catering equipment and work areas clean, safe and well stocked.
• Support stock rotation, waste reduction and the safe transportation of food trolleys.
• Work as part of a team, following instructions and helping with other catering duties as required.
