Job summary

University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Ward Clerk to support Ward 23 in coordinating daily ward operations. The role involves liaising with multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth patient flow, discharge planning, and clear communication with patients and families.

The successful candidate will work 08:00–16:00, two days per week (Mon–Fri), in a busy ward environment, prioritising tasks, maintaining records, and upholding information governance standards.

Job description

We are looking for a Ward Clerk to join our team here on Ward 23 to work with our staff to support the day to day running of an dynamic ward, liaise with various teams throughout the Trust, facilitate safe discharges from hospital and help communicate with patients, their friends, and family.

The successful applicant will enjoy working in a busy fast paced environment, will work closely with members of the multidisciplinary team to maintain smooth running of the ward service and care. They must have excellent communication skills, have a putting patients first approach to work, be able to prioritise, organise, be highly motivated; possess a calm approach to the working day and have a good sense of humour. They will also need to be able to keep clear records in line with information governance.
