Job summary

Ashford and St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Chertsey is recruiting for a Band 2 receptionist/administrative support on Cedar Ward. This is a permanent, full-time post of 37.5 hours per week, may include evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

The post holder will deliver an efficient reception and admin service, develop effective relationships with ward teams, site management and external callers. Sponsorship is not available for this post.

Qualifications

  • GCSE level or equivalent education required.
  • Previous administrative work experience preferred.
  • Good communication and organisational skills essential.

Responsibilities

  • Answer telephone and coordinate messages; initiate action.
  • Receive ward visitors and direct them appropriately; inform relevant staff of arrivals.
  • Assist with patients’ property checks, receipts, and storage as needed.
  • Support ward sister/charge nurse in monitoring furniture, fittings and equipment.
  • Process requisitions for repairs and supplies as necessary.
  • Monitor ward environment and tidiness; notify deputies of issues.
  • Maintain/assist with ordering of food and other supplies.
  • Adopt a professional manner and uphold standards of conduct.
  • Carry out additional duties within the scope of the role.

Job overview

The post holder will w ork as part of the team, and to provide an effective and efficient receptionist and administrative support service to the ward.

Internally the post holder will develop effective working relationships with Cedar Ward Multidisciplinary Team, Cedar Ward Management Team, Site Management,ASPH support services

Externally this include,Patient,Family members/ Carers and Transport.

This post includes evenings, weekends and Bank holiday work.

Main duties of the job
  • • - Answer telephone and co-ordinate messages, initiating action accordingly.
  • - Receive visitors to the ward and ensure that they are directed to the appropriate areas and that relevant personnel are informed of their arrival.
  • -Assist with patients’ property checks, receipts of property and safe storage as necessary.
  • - Assist the ward sister/charge nurse in the monitoring of furniture, fittings and equipment.
  • -Process requisitions for repair as necessary.
  • -Assist with monitoring of the physical environment and tidiness of the ward, keeping the ward sister/charge nurse or their deputies informed and take appropriate actions as required.
  • -Maintain/assist with ordering of food and other supplies
  • -Always act in a professional manner to uphold good standards of conduct.
  • -To support the ward and organisation by carrying out any other duties that reasonably fit within the broad scope of a job of this grade and type of work.
