Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a Ward Catering Assistant at Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital to prepare and serve nutritious meals, support patient recovery, and maintain a clean, safe kitchen and dining area.

You will work in a supportive team, deliver excellent patient service, and follow food safety standards while on a rota including early and late shifts. Training and uniform are provided, with benefits and a focus on wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar role or willingness to learn.
• Positive, reliable and caring approach with a genuine desire to provide excellent service to patients.
• Good communication and listening skills, with the ability to work well as part of a team.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and work efficiently.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness.
• Good timekeeping, reliability and a flexible approach to supporting the team.
• Willingness to learn and complete required training, including maintaining mandatory standards.
• Food Safety Level 2 certificate (or equivalent), or a willingness to achieve this.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a friendly, high-quality meal service to patients, ensuring dignity, care and excellent customer service.
• Prepare, assemble and serve patient meals accurately, including special dietary requirements.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and infection prevention in line with hospital and company policies.
• Complete food temperature checks, quality records and other required documentation accurately.
• Keep ward kitchens, catering equipment and work areas clean, safe and well stocked.
• Support stock rotation, waste reduction and the safe transportation of food trolleys.
• Work as part of a team, following instructions and helping with other catering duties as required.

Location: Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital, 67 Lansdowne Rd, Bournemouth BH1 1RW

Salary: £12.71 per hour plus Sodexo Benefits

Employment Type: Permanent

Shift Pattern: 5 days out of 7

Shift Times: 6:30 - 14:00 / 13:00 - 21:00 - on a rota basis

Parking: Off site / Uniform provided

Hours per week: 35 hours
