Job summary

Sodexo Group is hiring a Ward Catering Assistant at Nuffield Health Brighton Hospital to prepare and serve nutritious meals that support patient recovery.

You’ll work in a hospital kitchen and dining area, ensuring food safety, quality records and timely service with a cheerful patient-focused approach. 3 shifts per week, with varied start times, and on-site perks including uniform and meals.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar role or willingness to learn.
• Positive, reliable and caring approach with a genuine desire to provide excellent service to patients.
• Good communication and listening skills, ability to work well as part of a team.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Commitment to high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a friendly, high-quality meal service to patients, ensuring dignity, care and excellent customer service.
• Prepare, assemble and serve patient meals accurately, including special dietary requirements.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and infection prevention in line with hospital and company policies.
• Complete food temperature checks, quality records and other required documentation accurately.
• Keep ward kitchens and dining areas clean, safe and well stocked.
• Support stock rotation and safe transportation of food trolleys.
• Work as part of a team, following instructions and assisting with other catering duties as required.

• Good timekeeping, reliability and a flexible approach to supporting the team.
• A willingness to learn and complete required training, including maintaining mandatory standards.
• A Food Safety Level 2 certificate (or equivalent), or a willingness to achieve this.
