Job summary

NHS Jobs in Swindon is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join the Medicines Optimisation Team supporting inpatient units across BaNES, Swindon and Wiltshire. Based at Swindon Intermediate Care Centre, you will deliver a safe, patient-centred pharmacy service and develop clinical and ward-based experience.

The role offers Band 5 AfC salary with NHS Pension and Agenda for Change terms, with access to wellbeing, eLearning and career development through the Learning Enterprise.

Qualifications

• Registered Pharmacy Technician with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in primary care, community or hospital pharmacy.
• Able to work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
• Knowledge of pharmacy law and ethics and current legislation.
• Organised with ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
• Clean driving licence and access to a vehicle for daily use.
• Desirable patient counselling skills and confidentiality.
• Understand the evolving role of the Pharmacy Technician and registration requirements.
• Medicines reconciliation or optimisation training.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer skills and data handling.
• Professional commitment to development and confidentiality.
• Team player with ability to travel if needed.

Responsibilities

• Support ward-based medicines management service across inpatient units.
• Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses and clinicians to optimise prescribing and manage budgets.
• Work independently within agreed guidelines and priorities.
• Contribute to medicines management projects and service improvements.
