Job summary

The Oxford Centre for Enablement pharmacy team seeks an accredited Pharmacy Technician to join ward-based medicines management on the OCE. You will support medicines optimisation, accreditation tasks and patient counselling as part of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation service.

Applicants must hold NVQ3 or equivalent, be GPhC registered, and have medicines management accreditation; Band 4 eligibility is available until both accreditations are attained.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrable time management and organisational skills
• Enthusiastic, adaptable, flexible and able to work independently, and as part of a team, and under pressure
• Experience of a near-patient ward-based medicines management service, UK registration required

Responsibilities

• Provide and develop clinical pharmacy services to the Oxfordshire Centre of Enablement (OCE) including the multidisciplinary Oxford Spasticity Service with advice on prescribing, supply, administration and patient counselling.
• Work with neuro-rehabilitation pharmacist and nursing teams to ensure safe and cost-effective medication practices.
• Facilitate supported and self-administration of medicines by patients at the OCE as part of rehabilitation.
• Aim to maximise the safe and cost-effective use of medicines focused on patient needs.
• Train staff regarding the POD scheme and assist with discharge planning alongside pharmacists and ward staff.
• Endorse TTOs prior to verification and conduct patient counselling on discharge medications.
