Job summary

The Manor Hospital Pharmacy in Walsall is recruiting an experienced pharmacy technician to join as a Band 5 enhanced role in medicines management. You will dispense medicines for wards, perform accuracy checks, and support the medicines management team using automation at ward level and in the dispensary.

Qualifications

• Experienced pharmacy technician with medicines management skills in a hospital setting.
• Ability to dispense medicines for complex requests and to manage stock for wards.
• Familiar with ward-level automation and workflow coordination.
• Willingness to train students and apprentices as part of daily duties.

Responsibilities

• First line for referrals of prescription problems and investigate supply difficulties.
• Assist pharmacy staff in handling difficult or dissatisfied patients and staff.
• Supervise dispensary and ward workload and reorganise tasks as needed.
• Support extended use of patient own medicines and ward top-up planning.
• Create patient profiles by reviewing patients' own medicines with them.
• Check suitability of patients' own medicines for continued use.
• Provide one-stop dispensing to wards for discharge and inpatient use.
• Review patient charts and refer queries to ward pharmacist.
• Dispense medicines for wards and label accurately.
• Counsel patients on how to use their medicines.
• Refer interventions to ward pharmacist and maintain ward stock lists.
• Advise on safe storage and temperature monitoring of medicines.
