Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain seeks an experienced pharmacy technician to work within the medicines management team at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust. Qualifications

• NVQ level 3 or BTEC in pharmaceutical science.
• Accredited medicines management course.
• ACPT accreditation required.

Responsibilities

• Provide medicines management service to wards across emergency, acute, medicine, elderly care and surgery.
• Promote safe and cost-effective use of medicines at ward level.
• Support growth of the medicines management technician service across the Trust.
• Induct, train, supervise and support new pharmacy staff.
• Train healthcare staff on medicines management at ward level.
• Participate in medicines management audits.
• Complete medicines reconciliations promptly to NICE standards.
• Assess patients' own drugs for suitability for use.
• Order one stop dispensing medicines promptly for discharge.
• Carry out final accuracy checks on prescriptions to maintain ACPT competency.
• Advise patients, representatives and healthcare professionals on medication issues.
• Provide technical support to satellite pharmacies and main dispensary.
• Manage continuing professional development and training.
