NHS Scotland is seeking a part-time Ward Assistant for the Acute Medical Unit at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. The role involves administrative duties, dealing with supplies, and communication with patients and relatives, supporting ward operations.
The successful candidate will work with the Senior Nursing and Medical teams, with day and night rotations and weekend cover. Full training in NHS Scotland computer systems will be provided.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) at Ninewells Hospital for an individual to join our team as a part‑time Ward Assistant.
AMU is a dynamic, fast‑paced and innovative clinical environment providing acute and emergency care to patients presenting with a wide range of medical conditions. The service also incorporates anAmbulatory Assessment Area, working closely across the interface of acute and primary care. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop new knowledge and skills within a large, diverse multidisciplinary team.
The successful candidate will demonstrate effective communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team. You will work closely with the Senior Nursing and Medical teams, supporting the smooth and effective running of the ward.
Main duties will include a range of administrative responsibilities, ordering and monitoring supplies, answering telephones, communicating with patients, relatives and members of the public, and carrying out general ward duties to support effective ward flow. Knowledge of computer systems used within NHS Scotland would be desirable, though full training will be provided.
You will be required to comply with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland throughout your employment.
Hours of work: 29.36 hours per week. Working pattern: Day and night rotation, including weekend cover. Please note that the salary scale for this post is pro rata for part time hours.
