Job summary

A division of a world leader in the defence sector at Staffordshire is recruiting Mechanical Design Engineers at all levels to report to the Engineering Manager and contribute across the project life cycle.

You'll work with the team to coordinate the overall mechanical design, plan development tasks and deliver optimum engineering solutions from bid to delivery. A background in safety and environmental legislation and SolidWorks or Pro/Engineer is required; FE A/ CFD experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in mechanical design across project lifecycles.
• Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary design activities.
• Knowledge of safety and environmental legislation relevant to mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for and coordinate the overall mechanical design with the team.

The Background

A division of a world leader in the defence sector is seeking experienced Mechanical Design Engineers at all levels, to report to the Engineering Manager and perform a wide range of engineering work throughout the project life cycle, at their Staffordshire base.

The Role…

• You’ll be working closely with team members in order to take responsibility for & coordinate the overall mechanical design.
• You’ll be planning & conducting development & engineering tasks in order to meet agreed project objectives.
• You’ll deliver optimum mechanical engineering solutions from bid to delivery.
• Your day-to-day duties will certainly require judgement in the evaluation, selection and adaptation of designs or design techniques to meet agreed requirements.
• You’ll be of a similar working background with a proven track record of relevant experience within Mechanical Design.
• You’ll have a working knowledge & experience of safety and environmental legislation and a sound knowledge of 3D Mechanical Design Tools, including Solidworks or Pro/Engineer.
• FEA and CFD experience would certainly hold you in good stead, and for the higher level role, experience in the design of power conversion equipment is preferred.
