Michael Page Engineering & Manufacturing seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer in Middlewich to lead cradle-to-grave design for regulated equipment. You will drive manufacturability, create detailed 2D/3D drawings in AutoCAD and SolidWorks, and provide technical support across design and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in engineering, design and manufacturing.
• Extensive CAD experience with 2D AutoCAD and 3D SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of PDM including copy-tree, pack and go and configuration management.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Understanding of ERP systems is a plus.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer based in Middlewich, you'll play a key role in designing and developing equipment for highly regulated applications. Your role will involve, Design, Projects, Customer Service, Manufacture.

Description

As the Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be tasked with the following.

Lead and participate in cradle to grave design projects, leading the focus to embed 'design for manufacture' throughout the team.

Provide strong technical direction and design leadership to the team and manage projects where required adhering to defined company processes and procedures.

Have a strong focus and proficient use of 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D (SolidWorks) to prepare design for manufacturing drawings, validate design concepts and deliver product support documentation.

Create cut–files (flat pattern or flexible film material) as required.

Prepare and deliver technically focused presentations to both internal and external groups.

Provide technical support and advice to customers and manufacturing teams where required regarding material specifications, acceptable design tolerances and manufacturing processes.

Provide project direction in relation to cost reduction and margin improvement.

Regularly attend customer sites to carry out project installations, maintaining a professional and customer–focused manner at all times.

Attend industry conferences and exhibitions to support the sales and marketing process with technical input to maintain a strong awareness of industry developments.

Ensure adherence to all procedures and processes set up within the quality system.

Uphold a good working relationship with the onsite production team and Production Manager to ensure any issues are resolved quickly and safely, whilst always adhering to expected company and customer quality standards.

Contribute to the continuous Improvement of the quality systems in use within the company.

Profile

A successful Mechanical Design Engineer should have:

Degree qualified or equivalent.

At least 5 years' experience working in an engineering, design, and manufacturing environment.

Extensive CAD (2D AutoCAD and 3D Solidworks) experience.

Knowledgeable in product data management (PDM) including copy–tree, pack and go, building configurations and intelligent library parts with use of design tables.

Proactive problem solver with strong analytical thinking and a good attention to detail.

Keen interest in proactively develop own knowledge of new products and manufacturing processes.

Ability to work independently or as part of a team member.

Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex technical issues effectively to others.

Ability to come up with creative approaches for generating new ideas and improving existing processes, products or designs.

Ideally have an understanding of ERP systems.

Job Offer

• Salary ranging from GBP39,000 to GBP44,000, dependent on the level of experience.
