Job summary

CareTech Community Services is seeking a Waking Night Support Worker in Sutton Coldfield to provide overnight care for children with learning disabilities, including non-verbal communication. You will use digital records and assist with daily living activities in a supportive environment.

The role requires flexibility to work nights and weekends, a valid right to work in the UK, and a commitment to safeguarding and quality care. Company benefits and DBS checks are provided.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a residential childcare environment (preferred).
  • Level 4 qualification in Children’s and Young People (preferred).
  • Driver (company provides a car during working hours).
  • Comfortable using electronic care recording systems daily (e.g., Clearcare is an advantage).

Responsibilities

  • Overnight care for children with learning disabilities, including non-verbal or limited communication needs.
  • Record keeping and updating child records using the care system.
  • Be flexible to work evenings, nights and weekends as required.

Job description

Role: Waking Night Support Worker

Location: Sutton Coldfield

Pay: £14.86 per hour 3 long nights per week

You will need to have the Right to Work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available for this role.

Excellent opportunity for a waking nights support worker to join our team. The home is rated Good in all areas with OFSTED and has an excellent reputation with the local authorities. The home can accommodate up to 6 Young people, all the Children & Young People we support have a learning disability, Autism, Epilepsy and can display some associated behaviours. Many of our children (not all) are non-verbal or have limited communication and will communicate with us through different methods such as picture boards, Smartbox devices and Makaton.

Preferred but not Essential
  • Experience in Residential Childcare Environment (Preferred)
  • Level 4 Children’s and Young People or equivalent (Preferred but not essential)
  • Driver (company provide a car during working hours)
  • Able to work unsociable hours (evenings, nights and weekends)
  • New staff must be comfortable using an electronic care recording system on a daily basis to document, monitor, and update children and young people’s records accurately. Experience with Clearcare is an advantage, but not essential, as full training will be provided. However, all staff are expected to confidently use digital systems as part of their day-to-day role.
