Job summary

Westmorland and Furness Council is seeking Waking Night Support Workers in Ulverston. This permanent, part-time role (21 hours/week) supports children and young people with disabilities in a residential short-break setting, focusing on safety, engagement and development during night hours.

The post requires experience with children/young people with disabilities and a Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification is desirable, with the option to work towards it.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and young people with disabilities, ideally in a residential setting.
• A Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare is desirable, but relevant willingness to work towards it is accepted.
• Strong understanding of managing behaviours that challenge.
• Exceptional communication skills to build relationships with children, young people and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide waking night support in a residential setting for children and young people aged 8-18.
• Support safety, routines, activities, and engagement during night shifts.
• Collaborate with the team to promote independence, confidence and wellbeing.
• Maintain clear records and communicate any concerns to the safeguarding leads.
