Job summary

Staffordshire County Council is looking for a waking night support worker at Douglas Road, Newcastle Under Lyme, to provide person-centred care for adults with learning disabilities. The role is 20 hours per week on a rota basis, with shifts across weekends and bank holidays in a dynamic residential setting.

You will deliver medication support, assistance with personal care, and engage in activities while promoting independence. DBS checks and pre-employment health assessments are required.

Qualifications

• Be enthusiastic about working with people with learning disabilities and autism.
• Be caring, sensitive and patient while supporting people to be as independent as possible.
• Have ICT skills to complete digital record keeping.
• Have effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to manage potential and actual aggression in a sensitive way and remain calm in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent person-centred support in an innovative, flexible, responsive, and strengths-based manner.
• Act as a Link Worker for the people we support by contributing to the on-going assessment, development, delivery, and review of person-centred support plans.
• Administer medication and support with personal care
• Deliver the manual handling requirements including use of equipment, physical safety intervention skills, and active participation in person-centred activities
