Job summary

Macquarie Group is seeking an experienced trader to lead its EMEA Securities Borrowing and Lending business in London, with a primary focus on EMEA equities and hard-to-borrow securities. You will source and price inventory, manage risk, and collaborate with sales, trading and technology to automate workflows and enhance trading tools for broader platform efficiency.

The role requires 5+ years in securities lending trading, strong quantitative skills, and a track record of working with brokers

Qualifications

• 5+ years securities lending trading experience, ideally with Delta1 exposure.
• Strong understanding of equity finance and derivative structures.
• Python experience with ability to design or automate trading tools; advanced Excel skills.
• Experience using AI-driven analytics or automation to streamline workflows.
• Ability to evaluate risk vs reward with strong judgement and attention to detail.
• Numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills; client and counterparty interaction experience.
• Entrepreneurial mindset; comfortable with operational detail and process improvement.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Degree in Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, CS, or related quantitative discipline.

Responsibilities

• Lead the EMEA Securities Borrowing and Lending (SBL) trading desk in London.
• Source, price, and distribute inventory across internal and external counterparties.
• Manage equity inventory, funding, liquidity, collateral, and balance sheet usage.
• Monitor trading risks and communicate opportunities to stakeholders.
• Develop relationships with brokers, custodians, lenders, and market participants.
• Partner with sales, trading, and technology to enhance product distribution and tooling.
• Champion process improvement, automation, and AI-driven workflow initiatives.
