We are Zarach, the children’s bed charity, and we’re on a mission to end
child bed poverty, giving children the opportunity to engage at school
and break the cycle of poverty.
In our nearly seven years as a registered charity, we’ve captured the
hearts and attention of many individuals, community groups, businesses
and funders who want to support us on our mission. We’ve also been
given an incredible media platform from which we have raised
awareness of child bed poverty at local, regional and national levels. This
support and awareness has seen us deliver over 11,000 bed bundles to
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
As we grow, we are looking to recruit a mission-focussed and values-led
Volunteer Support Officer to join our Operations team.
As our ideal candidate you will need to be in commuting distance to our
Leeds warehouse, meaning you can travel regularly to meet with the
team.
As a Volunteer Support Officer, you will be responsible for supporting
volunteer engagement, ensuring smooth communication, and
managing key administrative processes. This role requires a
well-organised, digitally confident, and people-oriented individual who is
passionate about making a difference.
Ideally, you’ll have experience of volunteer management in the charity
sector, due to some of the specialities that come with this. But charity
experience is not essential if you can demonstrate an appetite and track
record for continual learning and development across your working life
WHAT WE OFFER
Salary: Starting at £25,625 with progression up to £29,725 per annum (FTE)
Hours: 22.5 hours per week (0.6 FTE) spread over 3-5 days a week
Reporting to: Operations Manager
Holidays: 36 days (including bank holidays) prorated
Location: Hybrid between Leeds warehouse and home location with some travel required to other locations

MAIN AIMS OF THE ROLE
● Champion and demonstrate a commitment to the pursuit of Zarach’s social
mission and values.
● To provide high quality service to all stakeholders that includes Zarach staff
and trustee team, volunteers, third party suppliers and donors and
● Lead on management and improvement of Zarach’s volunteering-related
administrative duties and processes, and support volunteers and Zarach
teams with recruitment and development across the range of opportunities
that Zarach provides.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Work alongside the Operations Manager to continually develop and improve
volunteer-management processes to support the volunteer-led model of
● Be the main point of contact for volunteering enquiries by responding to
volunteer-related email enquiries. This might range from enquiries about
volunteering opportunities to onboarding requirements and from scheduling
matters to supporting volunteers with their experience.
● Support the volunteer onboarding process, which ranges from sending
induction materials, to obtaining DBS checks and keeping accurate training
records.
● Responding to and scheduling corporate volunteers, liaising with Zarach’s
service delivery teams regarding their volunteering needs and with the
volunteers themselves to ensure reliability and service continuity is
maintained.

● With support from the Operations Manager, lead on volunteer data migration
to Salesforce, monitor and report volunteering KPIs, and provide support to
Zarach’s teams with volunteer recruitment and management.
GENERAL
● To be a champion and ambassador of the mission and values of Zarach in all
aspects of work and in all interactions with Zarach stakeholders.
● Attend a quarterly (or other agreed frequency) 1-1 meeting and annual
appraisal with your line manager to support you in fulfilling your duties and
responsibilities and in reviewing your progress against set objectives.
● Attend required meetings (internally and externally) that support the
development of Zarach, its team, ways of working and relationships with
stakeholders.
● Identify and attend training that will support you in fulfilling your duties and
responsibilities and professional development and in ensuring that Zarach
meets legal and best practice standards.
● Follow all Zarach policies and procedures and terms of your contract.
● Undertake any other reasonable duties that supports the fulfilment of the main
aims of this post and the ongoing development of Zarach.

Essential Experience Required:
-Experience in keeping accurate records and scheduling work.
-Experience using digital systems such as Google Workspace/MS Office.
-Experience of creating and implementing processes.
-Volunteer support experience in the charity sector.
-Experience of working with different teams to achieve a common goal.
