Job summary

Canal & River Trust in the United Kingdom is seeking a Volunteering Development Coordinator to grow and champion volunteering across England and Wales. The role involves advising teams, building partnerships with community organisations and centres, and developing volunteering opportunities that align with our strategic objectives.

You will travel regularly across Wales and beyond, working with volunteers on recruitment, onboarding and engagement, while maintaining systems and policies to ensure

Qualifications

  • Experience working with volunteers and communities in charity/public sector.
  • Experience managing projects, budgets or service plans.
  • Understanding health and safety and governance policies.
  • Strong IT, reporting and record-keeping skills.
  • Degree or equivalent in Volunteer Management (desirable).
  • NEBOSH certificate or equivalent Health & Safety qualification (desirable).

Responsibilities

  • Develop, grow and sustain volunteering opportunities across the Canal & River Trust.
  • Provide advice, guidance and practical support on volunteer management and engagement.
  • Identify recruitment, retention and diversification opportunities for volunteers.
  • Build relationships with community organisations, volunteer centres and partners.
  • Support teams to create inclusive, rewarding volunteering experiences.
  • Promote volunteering through outreach activities and events.
  • Contribute to national volunteering projects and lead groups.
  • Support effective use of volunteering systems, processes and policies.
  • Monitor and report volunteering activity for continuous improvement.
