Job summary

Vodafone is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to deliver LAN, WLAN and WAN solutions for a major Enterprise client. The role is primarily based at Leiston, Suffolk, with Location Independent Worker options and an excellent salary plus benefits.

You will plan, design and implement networks, lead projects, manage third-party suppliers, and support pre-sales activities. Cisco expertise and security clearance are required.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience configuring and implementing Cisco LAN, WLAN and WAN in enterprise environments.
  • Field installation experience with networking equipment.
  • Ability to develop strong customer relationships in a team environment.
  • Full SC Security Clearance or the ability to obtain clearance.
  • Flexible to work 8am-6pm and standby for out-of-hours remote support.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design and implement network solutions to meet customer requirements.
  • Technical lead for delivery of network projects.
  • Ensure Change Control and mandatory processes are followed.
  • Produce RAMs and risk assessments and maintain H&S documentation.
  • Hands-on build to stage, commission, and install new network equipment.
  • Create and maintain network documentation for sites and solutions.
  • Coordinate 3rd party suppliers and provide status updates to management.
  • Support pre-sales activities with technical input.
  • Develop and maintain departmental procedures and best practices.

Location: Customer Site - Leiston, Suffolk + Location Independent Worker
Salary: Excellent basic salary plus bonus and Vodafone benefits
Working hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work between 8am-6pm each day and provide remote Standby Support as & when required
Security Clearance: This position requires the ability & willingness to undergo and obtain a Secure Vetting (SC) clearance.

Join our Vodafone Business Technology Solutions team, where we support businesses of all sizes with world-class technology solutions. We design and develop our Fixed Line solutions, drive efficiency through automation and AI, and implement it all directly with our customers.

What you’ll do

Working in a team of like-minded and highly skilled Network Engineers, the primary focus for this role is delivery of reliable LAN, WLAN and WAN solutions using a wide range of products from data vendors including: Cisco and Vodafone for one of VodafoneThree’s largest Enterprise and Global customers.

The role will be predominantly based on our customer site in Leiston, Suffolk.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Plan, Design and Implement network solutions to meet customer business requirements.
  • Technical Lead for delivery of customer network projects.
  • Ensure Change Control and other mandatory processes are adhered to.
  • Ensure all work is risk-assessed with the production and maintenance of H&S Compliant documentation (RAMs and Point of Works Risk Assessment).
  • Where required undertake hands‑on build activity to stage, commission and install new network equipment.
  • Production of customer site and solution network documentation.
  • Monitor progress of activities within each project; providing regular updates to management and key stakeholders.
  • Management and coordination of 3rd party suppliers.
  • Presentation of solutions delivered to team members and colleagues as required.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to pre‑sales activity.
  • Develop and maintain departmental procedures and customer best practices standards.
  • Ensure technical knowledge is kept up to date and make recommendations to changes in customer technical standards.
  • Work co‑operatively with team members and colleagues, contributing positively and constructively to the achievement of team and organisational objectives.

Who you are

  • Extensive experience working with (configuring and implementing) predominantly Cisco LAN, WLAN and WAN solutions in an enterprise environment.
  • Extensive field experience including installation of networking equipment.
  • Self-motivating individual with the ability to develop strong customer relationships as well as functioning in a team environment.
  • Full SC Security Clearance or the ability to obtain.
  • Able to work a flexible shift pattern between the hours of 8am-6pm, with also being on standby for out of hours remote support as & when required.
  • Experience of working in a construction environment is advantageous.
