Job summary

New Chapter Tuition Ltd in Basildon is recruiting a Vocational Learning Mentor to support young people across KS3-KS5 with SEMH, ADHD, SEND or trauma. You will use practical, vocational learning to re-engage learners with education and help them build skills for their future.

The role involves 1:1 and small-group sessions, developing confidence and independence, and maintaining a safe, engaging classroom. Previous teaching is helpful but not required, with a focus on practical skills,

Qualifications

• Experience or background in motor vehicle, engineering, youth work, coaching, or similar.
• Ability to deliver practical learning 1:1 and in small groups.
• Willingness to work with young people with SEMH, SEND or trauma.
• Strong commitment to helping learners re-engage with education.

Are you a Mechanic, Motor Vehicle Technician, Engineer, Youth Worker, Sports Coach or Behaviour Mentor looking for a career where you can make a genuine difference?

New Chapter Tuition is working exclusively with a specialist Alternative Provision in Basildon to recruit a Vocational Learning Mentor.

you'll support young people across KS3-KS5 who may have SEMH, ADHD, SEND, behavioural needs or experienced trauma. Using practical and vocational learning, you'll help learners re-engage with education, build confidence and develop skills for their future.

The role involves:

• Delivering practical vocational learning 1:1 and in small groups of up to 8 learners
• Building positive and trusting relationships with young people
• Supporting behaviour using positive, effective de-escalation strategies
• Creating a safe, structured and engaging learning environment
• Developing learners' confidence, resilience and independence

We're particularly interested in people from backgrounds including motor vehicle, mechanics, engineering, youth work, sports coaching, cadets, vocational training, alternative provision, behaviour mentoring or SEND.

Previous teaching experience is advantageous but not essential. We're looking for practical skills, strong relationship-building ability, resilience and a genuine commitment to helping young people succeed.
