Job summary

Bedford Borough Council is seeking a part-time Visual Impairment Rehabilitation worker for the Sensory Impairment Team. The post involves delivering rehabilitation services to adults and children with visual impairment, including mobility training and daily living skills.

The role requires a rehabilitation diploma or equivalent, with preferred additional qualifications. Hybrid working is available, with flexitime, and 27 days annual leave (32 after 5 years) plus a robust pension.

  • You will have extensive experience of working with adults and children with visual impairment within the community.
  • You will be able to work autonomously and as part of team as well as multiagency working to ensure that the health and wellbeing of adults and children are paramount to service delivery and help to deliver excellent services to the residents of Bedford and Central Bedfordshire Boroughs.
  • You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent computer literacy to maintain good case recording.

  • Report to the Advanced Practitioner and work within the Sensory Impairment Team to deliver high quality services.

We are currently looking to recruit a part time Visual Impairment Rehabilitation worker for our Sensory Impairment Team.

Reporting to the Advanced Practitioner, the successful post holder will be responsible for providing a professional rehabilitation service to adults and children with a visual impairment, including advice, mobility training, daily living skills and communication skills.


You will be required to hold a diploma or equivalent in Rehabilitation studies. We would welcome candidates who also have rehabilitation qualification to apply.

You will have extensive experience of working with adults and children with visual impairment within the community.

You will be able to work autonomously and as part of team as well as multiagency working to ensure that the health and wellbeing of adults and children are paramount to service delivery and help to deliver excellent services to the residents of Bedford and Central Bedfordshire Boroughs.
