Job summary

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water is seeking a friendly Food Assistant at the Elan Valley Visitor Centre. This casual role involves serving customers, keeping the cafe and shop clean, and providing information on local walking and cycling routes. You’ll contribute to a welcoming environment in a stunning mid-Wales setting.

Shifts are casual with five-day-a-week access, and there is no home working. The role emphasizes customer service, safety, and teamwork within the visitor centre operation.

Qualifications

• Experience in a café/retail/reception/front-of-house or customer-facing environment.
• Proven ability to deliver helpful, professional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food and beverages to customers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Keep tables clean, tidy and ready for customers to use.
• Support general cleaning within kitchen and storage areas, helping to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
• Follow procedures to maintain a safe and welcoming site for everyone on site.
• Provide friendly information service about local activities and walking routes.
• Complete daily income reconciliation against till receipts.
• Help keep the gift shop welcoming and well stocked, displaying items and replenishing stock.
• Engage with visitors and provide a positive experience as an ambassador for Welsh Water.
