Job summary

Join the Elan Valley Visitor Centre team at Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water as a Kitchen/Food Assistant. You’ll cook and serve high-quality meals, support the café operation with the team, and lead in the kitchen in the Supervisor’s absence, ensuring food safety and service standards are maintained.

You’ll work 37 hours over five days, with annualised hours and a varied shift pattern. The role includes strong benefits and the chance to grow with a not-for-profit, visually stunning location at Elan Valley.

Qualifications

• Means to attend site 5 days / week via own transport (postcode LD65HP).
• Prior demonstrable experience of food preparation.
• Experience of working in a busy kitchen as a commis chef or cook.
• Able to deliver high levels of customer service.
• Able to effectively communicate with customers and colleagues.
• Able to be organised and follow process.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve high-quality meals, following our agreed standards and cost targets.
• Work closely with the wider café team to keep service running smoothly and create a positive team environment.
• Delivering friendly, exceptional service and helping create a great experience for our visitors.
• Take pride in maintaining a safe, clean and well-organised kitchen, ensuring food safety procedures are followed at all times.
• Build knowledge of menus and allergens to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for every visitor.
• Get involved in menu planning and supporting events at the Visitor Centre.
• Help manage stock and ordering to ensure the kitchen has everything it needs for a successful service.
