Job summary

Sheffield City Council is seeking a full-time Specialist Teacher for Vision Impairment and Physical Disabilities from January 2027. The role focuses on supporting children with physical disabilities in mainstream settings and teaching learners with vision impairment, within Tapton School's Vision and Physical Support Service.

You will manage a citywide caseload, undertake the mandatory qualification, and work with families and multi-agency teams to promote inclusive education.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience supporting children and young people with physical disabilities in mainstream settings.
• Experience teaching learners with vision impairment.
• Must undertake the mandatory qualification to develop specialist knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist advice and support to educational settings.
• Deliver direct one-to-one teaching for children and young people.
• Manage a citywide caseload of pupils with physical disabilities and/or vision impairment.
