Job summary

inspiring vet care, the UK’s number one vet care provider, is seeking a part-time Emergency Out of Hours Veterinary Surgeon for our Brighton hospital to cover weekends and bank holidays 08:00-18:30, averaging 11 hours per week.

You’ll triage and manage daytime emergencies, work with the ECC vets, and enjoy hospital facilities, a supportive team, and ongoing development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Experience in emergency/out-of-hours care preferred.
  • Excellent client communication and bedside manner.
  • Willingness to work weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Emergency Out of Hours daytime consultations during weekends/bank holidays.
  • Triaging and managing urgent and emergency cases.
  • Support hospital vets and work with ECC team using hospital facilities.

Exciting, part-time role available working at our main hospital site providing out of hours services over weekends and bank holidays between 08:00-18:30, averaging 11 hours per week

We are seeking a confident and compassionate Veterinary Surgeon to join our team, focusing on emergency daytime consultations. This role is ideal for a vet who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment and is confident in triaging and managing urgent and emergency cases presenting during the day, supporting the hospital vet.

The clinic provides a comprehensive range of general practice veterinary services including medicine, surgery, radiography, CT, ultrasound and dentistry along with the support of nursing clinics - all bolstered by excellent hospital facilities. Patients of our Brighton clinic can also benefit from the on-site support of Brighton Veterinary Referrals if additional expertise is required.

You will come into contact with many specialists and be an essential team player in providing great care and service to our clients. We are a 5 minute walk from the train station and a 20 minute walk into central Brighton. The area is perfect if you enjoy a mix of vibrant town life with a beautiful countryside and outdoor activities on your doorstep.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As an Emergency Out of Hours Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.

You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.

  • Priory Emergency Treatment Services (P.E.T.S.) is our dedicated emergency service. Emergency care is delivered by our team of dedicated out-of-hours emergency care vets and nurses operating from our state-of-the-art flagship Brighton hospital.
  • You will consult and care for inpatients alongside our ECC vet, providing out of hours services to local clinics.
  • You will commit to working every other weekend and a minimum of 4 bank holidays per year, averaging on 11hrs per week.

  • A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS
  • Experience working in out of hours with growing confidence in seeing emergency cases
