Job Description

Introduction

Our Client’s Cat-only clinic in Llanishen, Cardiff, is seeking a surgically competent Veterinary Surgeon to join their established feline-focused team. Set in a charming and purpose-designed practice, this is an exciting opportunity for a vet passionate about soft tissue surgery and feline care to join a supportive and well-equipped environment.

Working Hours / Rota

This is a part-time position working 18 hours per week across 2 days (8:30am – 6:30pm). There are no on-call or weekend requirements, making it ideal for candidates seeking flexibility and work-life balance.

Role Description

The successful candidate will be confident in performing a wide range of soft tissue surgeries including, but not limited to, neutering, Caesarian sections, cystotomies, thyroidectomies, enterotomies, enucleations, and lumpectomies. You’ll work within a tight-knit team of vets, nurses, and support staff, contributing to both clinical outcomes and team development. This role is tailored to allow focus on your surgical strengths within a feline-exclusive setting.

Team Size

The clinic operates with a close and collaborative team including two Veterinary Surgeons, one HRVN, one RVN, and two receptionists. The team is experienced and supportive, encouraging a progressive and positive clinical culture.

Practice Details

This feline-exclusive clinic is equipped to a high standard with:

• Digital x-ray
• Adaptix 3D x-ray (orthopaedics and dental imaging)
• Ultrasound with pulsed wave and colour Doppler
• Multi-parameter anaesthetic monitoring
• Cryotherapy and Radioactive iodine unit
• Doppler and Oscillometric BP monitors
• Full IDEXX lab suite (Procyte Dx, Catalyst One, Sedivue)
• Microscope, oxygen unit, incubator
• Burtons VETair2 Dental Unit
  
  

The clinic provides an exceptional standard of feline care supported by advanced diagnostic and surgical tools.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be an RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon with strong surgical skills and confidence in performing routine and complex soft tissue procedures. Feline experience is beneficial but not essential. The ability to work effectively within a small team and a genuine passion for cat care are essential.
