Job description

About Us

In 1917 the first People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals was founded to provide vet care for sick and injured pets. Now, over 100 years later and with 48 pet hospitals fully operational across the UK, we’re proud of the fact that we continue to provide expert care to those pets and people who need us most. What we do really matters!

Our approach is unique as we combine pragmatism with a strong client care focus to deliver good clinical outcomes for both people and pets – we focus on measuring our impact rather than targets. To achieve this balance effectively, support is key and there is always the opportunity to share complex cases and discuss treatments and outcomes with both highly experienced surgeons and those who are new to the profession.

Our city

Cardiff is truly the city that has something for everyone! Feel your heart race at the international white water centre, discover 2000 years of history within its castle, shop until you drop in a centre full of top brands and thriving independent shops, or perhaps join in its buzzing music, arts, and foodie scene, or maybe soak up the atmosphere and the Welsh passion for rugby at its Principality stadium, or even head-out of the city to explore 185 miles of National Parks, fairy-tale castles, snow-capped peaks and coastal paths. What are you waiting for? Come to Cardiff and start your adventure now!

Our hospital

Cardiff Pet Hospital on the peripheral of the city and inside it you will experience a hive of veterinary activity alongside a warm Welsh welcome. Not only does this hospital have afriendlyenvironment, but it also benefits from having six consulting rooms; two dedicated theatres; a separate dental room; large prep area; imaging suite with digital radiography, ultrasound and endoscopy; piped gases; extensive orthopaedic equipment and a supportive team of experienced Veterinary Surgeons, 2 x Veterinary team leaders, Registered Veterinary Nurses and Veterinary Care Assistants and Head Nurse.

Our vacancy

The good news is, because of growing demand for our service, we are expanding our veterinary team and are looking to recruit several veterinary roles. The good news, as we truly value the importance of a good work-life balance, we are offering a great deal of flexibility around these roles to include:

  • Full-time or Part-time working opportunities

The work is here is fast-paced, challenging and we cover our own OOHs (but we have worked hard to ensure that you have sufficient down-time post OOH so ensuring the work-life balance remains positive). Our working week revolves around 8am-8pm but the most typically hours are either 8am-4.30pm or 9am-5.30pm (but shifts could be any variation between 8am-8pm). However, remember, we can offer a great deal of flexibility around working hours, days, patterns - just ask and we will look to accommodate your needs alongside our own.

Our Support

We understand the importance ofpersonal growth and development and, but this can mean different things to different people. At Cardiff Pet Hospital, you will be supported on this journey and, whether it be developing clinical skills or working towards management goals, you will be supported all the way. If surgical experience is what you are after, we offer a fair share of BOH opportunity across the entire vet team, but this is further supported by two vet team leaders as well as the support of a seasoned and dedicated vet team many of whom have years of veterinary experience under their belt for you to learn from.
