Job summary

CVS Vets in Manchester is seeking a Veterinary Patient Care Assistant to join Regan Veterinary Centre. You will support RVNs and Vets, provide nursing care, and help with day-to-day animal welfare.

The role is permanent, 37 hours per week, with shifts 08:00–19:00 Mon–Fri and a Saturday rota. Salary aligns with the National Minimum Wage, with benefits and staff discounts.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer-facing roles with a caring approach.
• Ability to communicate clearly with clients and colleagues.
• Demonstrated empathy in handling difficult or emotional situations.
• Team-focused and supportive in a veterinary setting.
• Background in animal welfare and handling is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Role Details:

Location: 405-407 Hollinwood Avenue, New Moston, Manchester, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom, M40 0JQ

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 37 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday on a varied shift pattern between 08.00 - 19.00, with a share in the Saturday 08.30 – 17.30 rota

Salary: Will be paid at the National Minimum Wage

Must Haves: Animal care and handling experience

About the role:

The Patient Care Assistant position is crucial in any veterinary practice. You'll support our skilled RVN's and Vets in providing exceptional care to our animal patients.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing nursing care to our patients
• Assisting Vets and Nurses with animal restraint
• Walking, feeding, and cleaning patients
• Preparing emergency and operating facilities
• Performing general cleaning and maintenance
• Running internal lab samples
• Answering emergency calls
• Supporting the reception team, including booking appointments and processing payments

Who We're Looking For:

• Skilled in customer service and public interaction
• Resilience and the ability to handle emotional situations with kindness and professionalism
• Strong communication skills paired with genuine empathy
• Experienced in animal welfare, including feeding, cleaning, and handling – this is essential!
• Resilient and capable of handling emotional situations
• Positive and a team player
• Preferably have experience in a veterinary environment
