Job summary

CVS Vets’ Market Cross Veterinary Centre in Dalkeith invites applications for a Veterinary Patient Care Assistant. You will support RVNs and Vets with nursing care, animal handling, and preparation of facilities, working 40 hours per week with a Saturday rota.

Salary is paid at the National Minimum Wage. We offer five weeks’ annual leave (pro rata), staff discounts on veterinary bills and products, an employee assistance programme, and more as part of joining CVS Vets, one of the UK's leading

Qualifications

• Skilled in customer service and public interaction
• Resilience and the ability to handle emotional situations with kindness and professionalism
• Strong communication skills paired with genuine empathy
• Experienced in animal welfare, including feeding, cleaning, and handling – this is essential!
• Resilient and capable of handling emotional situations
• Positive and a team player
• Preferably have experience in a veterinary environment

Responsibilities

• Providing nursing care to our patients

• Walking, feeding, and cleaning patients

Role Details

Location: 18 Edinburgh Rd, Dalkeith, EH22 1JZ

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 40 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday between the hours of 08.30 – 18.30, with a share in the Saturday 08.30 – 12.30 rota

Salary: Will be paid at the National Minimum Wage

Must Haves: Animal care and handling experience

About the role

The Patient Care Assistant position is crucial in any veterinary practice. You'll support our skilled RVN's and Vets in providing exceptional care to our animal patients.
