Job summary

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company SA in Ipswich seeks an experienced Operations Manager to lead export activities, oversee vessel operations, and drive cost control and service performance. You will build strong stakeholder relationships and support reporting while ensuring efficient delivery of vessel operations.

The role focuses on planning, performance analysis and developing a capable team within a dynamic UK port network.

• Knowledge and experience of terminal, vessel and associated operations.
• Ability to develop the collective knowledge of the team and generate a continuous talent pipeline.
• A professional, positive and flexible attitude at all times.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to effectively communicate at all levels.
• Demonstrate vision and ability to scrutinise effectively.
• Ability to build positive operational relationships with both internal and external customers.
• Excellent PC skills including MS Office 365 software.
• Ability to perform under pressure and be flexible to complete tasks outside normal office hours where essential to support the MSC Network.

Responsibilities

• Lead export activities and vessel operations planning.
• Be focal point for export cargo and stakeholders to ensure safe and efficient connection to planned vessel.
• Manage, control and report export-related costs and performance at all UK Ports.
• Improve customer satisfaction through delivery of excellent customer service.
• Develop the individual and collective skills, knowledge and motivation of the team.
• Contribute to a positive work climate with flexibility and support for colleagues.
• Accurate and timely reporting for MSC UK and MSC Geneva management.
• Analyse and monitor performance against KPIs.
• Liaise with other managers to develop the department.
