Job summary

Nuclear Inst in England is seeking an experienced CNC Turner to join a well-established precision engineering company manufacturing components for the automotive, aerospace and defence industries.

This role involves vertical turning and boring of low-volume, high-integrity components ranging from approximately 0.6 to 2.2 metres in diameter. You will programme, set and operate CNC machines and prove out new programmes to ensure tight tolerances.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship/training or time-served with NVQ3 or above.
• 3+ years in a precision machining role.
• Vertical turning or boring experience.
• Experience with high-precision tolerances.
• Experience with multiple materials (nickel alloys, stainless steel, titanium, aluminium, carbon steel).

Responsibilities

• Programming, setting and operating CNC machines.
• Proving out new programmes and verifying tool paths.
• Machining high-integrity components to tight tolerances.
• Reading and interpreting complex drawings and specifications.
• Using workshop measuring equipment and completing documentation.
• Carrying out in-cycle deburring and periodic maintenance checks.
• Identifying process improvements and maintaining a clean work area.

CNC Turner

Pay: £17.82-£21.17 per hour, negotiable depending on skills and experience
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:30am-4:30pm; Friday, 7:30am-12:30pm
Contract: Permanent, full-time - 39 hours per week

The Role

• Programming, setting and operating CNC machines
• Proving out new programmes
• Machining high-integrity components to precise tolerances
• Working with nickel alloys, stainless steel, titanium, aluminium and carbon steel
• Reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings
• Using workshop measuring equipment
• Completing in-cycle deburring where required
• Following route card instructions and completing documentation accurately
• Carrying out periodic equipment maintenance checks
• Identifying opportunities to improve processesMaintaining a clean and organised working environment

The Candidate

• Apprenticeship trained, time-served or qualified to NVQ Level 3 or above
• A minimum of three years' experience within a precision machining role
• Previous vertical turning or boring experience
• Experience working to high-precision tolerances
• Confident working with a wide range of materials
• Fanuc or Siemens control experience is preferred
• Experience within the nuclear, power generation or aerospace industries would be advantageous
• Able to work effectively as part of a team
