Job summary

The Commercial Hotel is seeking a proactive Maintenance Technician to support our venues, handling plumbing, joinery, basic electrical work and cosmetic repairs. You will be the go-to person for repairs, preventative maintenance and on-the-spot fixes to keep spaces safe, functional, and inviting for guests.

This regional role requires travel between 10 venues. Hours are Monday to Friday 8:00–16:30 with some flexibility and on-call weekends available.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on maintenance experience across multiple trades.
  • Ability to diagnose and fix faults quickly to minimise downtime.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced venue environment.

Job description

Are you a hands-on problem-solver who takes pride in keeping spaces safe, functional, and looking their best? We’re looking for a proactive, multi-skilled Maintenance Technician to support the smooth running of our venues. In this role, you’ll be the go-to person for a wide range of repairs, preventative maintenance, and on-the-spot fixes that help create exceptional experiences for our guests and a great working environment for our team.

In the role of Property Maintenance we require you to undertake the following:
  • Optimise property condition and quality and to ensure the building is kept in a safe working condition.
  • Maintain a high level of quality, providing maximum satisfaction to customers, clients, guests and team.
  • Understand the mechanism of buildings including plumbing, plant, safety systems and equipment.
  • Provide first and immediate response to fault finding, whilst maximising quality and ensuring cost effectiveness.
  • Ensure prevention of major damage that could result in extensive costs and minimise reactive intervention.
  • Understand and maintain grounds and external fabrication of a building, such as drainage and guttering
  • Complete scheduled/planned maintenance per each venue as directed by the Property Manager
  • Source materials for venues and ensure high quality of service and presentation is achieved in each task undertaken
  • Work in accordance with Company safety and environmental policies, directives, code of conduct and with a duty of care.
  • Work with the rest of Property Team to proactively ensure that tasks are completed in a timely and professional manner
  • Understand and demonstrate the principles of Planned Preventative Maintenance
  • Carry out repairs and reactive maintenance
  • Record and report information accurately either internally or externally
  • Understand and demonstrate the safe use of hand tools, for example screwdrivers, power drills, pliers, paper strippers and a variety other tools used in plumbing and carpentry
  • May be required to support the further Property Team to complete Adhoc Maintenance tasks and Project Work

This is a regional role, you will be required to travel between 10 different venues as scheduled, hours of work are Monday to Friday between 8-4:30pm, although some flexibility may be required depending on works required, and on call weekends available.

We pay a fair wage – with our hourly pay being higher than the Government rates, at a minimum. Your earnings will be further enhanced by our 10% service charges and other tips that guests leave – with 100% of tips being retained by the team.
