Job summary

Hawk Hiring seeks a skilled MOT Tester / Workshop Technician to join our busy independent service centre in Frome. Participate in MOT tests across Class 4, 5L, and 7, using modern testing bays and equipment.

You will conduct taxi and VSI checks, identify required repairs, and maintain safety and cleanliness in the workshop while collaborating with the team to deliver high customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Active, valid DVSA MOT tester licence required (Class 4 & 7 essential).
• Full UK driving licence is essential.
• Proven track record as MOT tester/technician in a professional workshop.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Class 4, 5L & 7 MOT tests in full accordance with DVSA standards.
• Perform specialized fleet inspections including taxi and VSI checks (full training provided).
• Identify necessary repairs and provide clear testing reports to the service team.
• Maintain compliance with workshop health and safety regulations and keep bays clean.
• Collaborate with workshop technicians to ensure efficient workflow and high customer satisfaction.

We are seeking a skilled MOT Tester / Workshop Technician to join our busy, highly respected independent vehicle service centre. • Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per year basic (Tailored directly to your hands-on testing experience and technical skillset).

Your Role

As a core MOT Tester / Workshop Technician on our team, you will:

• Conduct Class 4, 5L & 7 MOT tests in full accordance with DVSA legal and safety standards.
• Perform specialized fleet inspections, including taxi compliance checks, VSI checks, and minibus safety inspections (full training provided).
• Identify necessary repairs and provide clear, accurate testing reports to the service team.
• Maintain compliance with all workshop health and safety regulations while keeping testing bays clean and organized.
• Collaborate closely with workshop technicians to ensure efficient workflow and high customer satisfaction.

What You Need

• Qualifications & Experience: Active, valid DVSA MOT Tester licence (Class 4 & 7 essential; Class 5 capability is a major advantage). Proven track record as an MOT Tester or Technician within a professional workshop setting.
• Licensing: Full UK driving licence is essential.
• Equipment & Skills: Strong mechanical knowledge across varied vehicle systems, proficiency with testing equipment and hand tools, keen attention to detail, and a pride in delivering thorough safety checks.
