Job summary

Royal Mail is recruiting a Level 2 Vehicle Technician for our Sheffield Workshop on a permanent contract. You’ll service, inspect and repair a fleet of LCVs and HGVs with access to modern tooling and a fully equipped site. The role offers a structured career path, funded training, PPE and employee discounts.

You must hold IMI Level 2 in Light/Heavy vehicle maintenance and repair, have your own toolkit, and a valid UK driving licence. HGV licence is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Qualified mechanic/Vehicle Technician with advanced level IMI 2 or equivalent.
• Own toolkit for standard repairs.
• Experience on a wide range of vehicles (LCV, HGV).
• Full manual UK driving licence; HGV licence advantageous.
• Flexible to service demands and shift rota.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, inspections, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs on a varied fleet (LCVs, HGVs, trailers).
• Diagnose vehicle faults and complete repairs to required standards.
• Carry out routine maintenance using personal toolkit.
• Work with traditional fuel and electric vehicles across makes/models.
• Access specialist tooling in the Sheffield workshop.

We’re recruiting a Level 2 qualified Vehicle Technician / Mechanic to join our Sheffield Workshop on a Permanent contract. You’ll work on a varied fleet of LCVs and HGVs, carrying out vehicle maintenance, servicing, diagnostics and repairs, with the potential to earn up to £40,000 including overtime.

Working Hours: Full time

• 39.5 hours per week (excluding meal breaks) Rotating shift pattern; Week 1 & 2: 13:30
• 22:00 Monday to Friday; Week 3 13:30
• 22:00 Monday to Thursday & Saturday 06:00
• 14:00.You will be required to work 1 in 3 Saturdays (with a weekday day off)

As a Vehicle Technician, you’ll:

• Carry out servicing, inspections, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs on a varied fleet of LCVs, HGVs, trailers and other mechanical equipment.
• Diagnose vehicle faults and complete mechanical repairs to the required standard.
• Carry out routine commercial vehicle maintenance and servicing, using your own personal toolkit.
• Work with a range of traditional fuel and electric vehicles across different makes and models.
• Have access to specialist tooling and shared equipment within our modern, fully equipped Sheffield workshop.

A bit about you

• Qualified mechanic/ Vehicle Technician: you’re fully qualified to an advanced level (IMI Level 2 in Light or Heavy vehicle maintenance & repair or equivalent). You’ve got your own toolkit for standard repairs.
• Varied vehicle experience: Proven Vehicle Technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, for example LCV
• Valid UK driving licence: You hold a full manual UK driving licence, HGV licence would be advantageous.
• High working standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively.
• Flexible to service demands: you’re able to work on a flexible shift rota.
