Job summary

Hawk Hiring in Wimbledon is seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician / Car Mechanic to join our independent workshop team. We offer a £36,000–£40,000 basic salary, Monday to Friday hours 09:00–18:00, and no weekend shifts, with a focus on technical quality over volume.

You will perform heavy mechanical repairs, diagnose faults across various makes, carry out servicing, and maintain digital records while working with the service management team.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or City & Guilds / time-served) with clutches, belts and wet belt systems experience.
• F-Gas certification is preferred or interest in obtaining it.

Responsibilities

• Execute heavy mechanical repairs including clutches, cambelts and wet-belt replacements.
• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical faults across a range of makes/models.
• Carry out servicing and preventative maintenance to high standards.
• Maintain accurate digital job records and liaise with service management and senior technicians.

Your Role

As a vital Vehicle Technician / Car Mechanic in our Wimbledon workshop, you will:

• Execute heavy mechanical repairs, including clutches, timing belts (cambelts), and EcoBoost wet belt replacements.
• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical & electrical faults across a wide variety of vehicle makes and models.
• Carry out routine vehicle servicing, scheduled preventative maintenance, and comprehensive system repairs to high standards.
• Maintain precise digital job records and collaborate closely with the service management team and senior technicians.

What You Need

• Qualifications & Experience: NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 (or City & Guilds / time-served equivalent) with a proven track record handling clutches, timing belts, and wet belt systems. F-Gas certification is preferred (or an interest in obtaining it).
• Licensing: Full UK driving licence is essential. An active MOT Tester licence is preferred but not required.
• Equipment & Mindset: Must possess your own hand tools for daily workshop repair tasks. Strong diagnostic problem-solving skills, pride in quality mechanical workmanship, and a collaborative team attitude.
