Job summary

Hampshire County Council is seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician to join our workshop team. You will inspect, service, and repair a range of light and heavy vehicles, ensuring safety and DVSA compliance. Familiarity with DVSA standards and diagnostic tools is essential, with HGV/LGV exposure desirable.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair from a recognized provider.
• Experience in inspecting, servicing, repairs and MOT prep on light and heavy vehicles.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of DVSA standards and regulations.
• Experience on HGVs/LGV or D1 licence desirable.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs and trailers, including diagnosing faults.
• Prepare vehicles for MOTs and conduct inspections in line with DVSA standards.
• Maintain accurate records and assist with roadside calls or breakdowns when needed.
• Ensure tools and equipment are used safely and maintained.
• Report major issues to the Workshop Manager and support workshop operations.
