Job summary

Hampshire County Council is seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician for our workshop team based across Hampshire locations including Hook. The role focuses on inspections, servicing, repairs and MOT preparation on light and heavy vehicles, with DVSA standards and accurate record-keeping.

You will work Mon–Fri, 37 hours, with a supportive team, ample training and opportunities to develop, plus a competitive local government pension and generous holiday entitlement.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
• Experience working on HGVs/LGV or D1 licence desirable.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of DVSA regulations and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, inspections, repairs and MOT preparation on light and heavy vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults with diagnostic equipment.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare vehicles for MOTs.
• Provide roadside assistance when needed and support Workshop Manager.
