Job summary

Halfords Garage Services is expanding at Fusion centres upgraded with the latest facilities to deliver a first‑class customer experience.

As a Vehicle Technician/Merchant Mechanic you will service and repair vehicles, handle clutches and timing belts, and diagnose issues across electrics, brakes, steering and suspension. Join the UK’s leading automotive service provider and progress within a supportive Halfords team.

Qualifications

• A Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or time‑served experience.
• Full driving licence with no more than 9 points.
• Experience as a technician/mechanic capable of diagnostic work (brakes, steering/suspension, engine) and more complex repairs.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair vehicles, including routine servicing and parts replacement.
• Carry out more complex tasks such as clutch and timing belt replacements.
• Perform diagnostics across areas like electrics, brakes, steering and suspension; diagnose and fix faults.

Job description

• On-target earnings up to £40,600
• Comprising a base salary of £31,500 - £33,500
• An uncapped monthly bonus scheme with average additional earnings of £7,100 per year.

You’ll have the ability to carry out more complex tasks such as clutches and timing belt replacements and diagnostics in areas such as vehicle electrics, brake steering and suspension systems.

Skills And Experience

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent OR time served experience
• Must have a full drivers licence with no more than 9 points
• Experienced Technician/Mechanic able to carry out diagnostic work (brakes, steering/suspension, engine) and more complex repair and replacements (coolant/diesel injectors, head gasket, brakes, electrical)
