Job summary

Royal Mail in Oban is seeking a Level 3 qualified Vehicle Technician to join our workshop. You will work full time on a permanent contract, performing inspections, diagnostics and repairs across a diverse fleet including LCVs and HGVs.

You’ll use your own toolkit, access modern equipment, and participate in ongoing training. A UK driving licence and flexible shift availability are required to support service needs.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent.
• Proven Vehicle Technician experience on a wide range of vehicles.
• MOT Tester qualification would be advantageous; not required.
• Valid UK manual driving licence held in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of inspections, diagnostics, maintenance and repair on vehicles, trailers and mechanical equipment.
• Use your own toolkit for routine maintenance and repairs on light/heavy goods vehicles.
• Access specialist tooling and shared equipment in modern, fully equipped workshops.

We’re recruiting a Level 3 qualified mechanic at Oban Workshop on a Permanent contract.

Working Hours:

Full time - 39.5 hours per week (excluding meal breaks). Working 07:00 until 15:30 Monday to Friday. Occasional Saturday working may be required to support business needs during busy periods.

• You’ll perform a full range of inspections, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment.
• You’ll use your own personal toolkit to undertake routine maintenance and repair light / heavy goods vehicles.
• You’ll also have access to specialist tooling and shared equipment in our modern, fully equipped workshops.

A bit about you

• Qualified mechanic: you’re fully qualified to an advanced level (Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent). You’ve got your own toolkit for standard repairs.
• Varied vehicle experience: Proven Vehicle Technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, for example LCV
• MOT Tester qualification would be advantageous; however, applications are welcomed from candidates who do not currently hold this qualification
• Valid UK driving licence: You hold a full manual UK driving licence
• High working standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively.
• Flexible to service demands: you’re able to work on a flexible shift rota. You’re always willing to support your team where necessary.
