Job summary

Royal Mail in the United Kingdom is recruiting a Level 3 qualified mechanic for Nottingham Workshop on a permanent contract. The role covers a full range of inspections, diagnostics, maintenance and repair on vehicles, trailers and equipment, with overtime potential.

You will work a 39.5-hour week with a rotating shift pattern, and you will need your own toolkit for routine repairs. The position offers career development through training and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• Level 3 advanced qualification in light or heavy vehicles.
• Proven experience as a vehicle technician on a range of vehicles (LCV/HGV).
• Full UK manual driving licence; HGV licence preferred.

We’re recruiting a Level 3 qualified mechanic at Nottingham Workshop on a Permanent contract, with the potential to earn up to £60 including overtime.

Working Hours:

Full time - 39.5 hours per week (rotating shift pattern; week 1: 06:00 - 14:00, week 2: 06:00 - 14:00 and week 3: 13:30- 22:00). You will be required to work 1 in 3 Saturdays (with a weekday day off)

A Bit About The Role

• You’ll perform a full range of inspections, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment.
• You’ll use your own personal toolkit to undertake routine maintenance and repair light / heavy goods vehicles.
• You’ll also have access to specialist tooling and shared equipment in our modern, fully equipped workshops.

A Bit About You

• Qualified mechanic: you’re fully qualified to an advanced level (Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent). You’ve got your own toolkit for standard repairs.
• Varied vehicle experience: Proven Vehicle Technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, for example LCV / HGV.
• Valid UK driving licence: You hold a full manual UK driving licence, preferably an HGV licence with trailer experience.
• High working standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively.
• Flexible to service demands: you’re able to work on a flexible shift rota. You’re always willing to support your team where necessary.
