Job summary

BEAR Scotland is seeking a Vehicle Restraint System Operative to join our VRS squad. The role is full-time, based in Perth or Dundee with travel across the North West trunk road network and on‑call duties as required.

You will install and maintain crash barriers and road furniture, and support the VRS team on site while complying with health and safety standards. Experience as a roadworker is preferred; LGV 2 licence, NHSS 12D and related tickets are desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience as a roadworker with a range of road maintenance operations.
• Flexibility for shift work and travel across sites.
• Willingness to undertake training to progress in the role.
• Desirable: LGV Class 2 licence, NHSS 12D, Excavator (<10t), Lorry Loader, Slinger/Signaller.
• H&S awareness and holding relevant tickets is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Erect and remove temporary and permanent crash barriers, and manage traffic signs.
• Install and fix temporary/permanent road furniture.
• Operate power tools, small plant and machinery on site.
• Drive vehicles, including those with simple attachments, to job sites.
• Provide on-site support for the VRS team and ensure safety of the public and colleagues.
