Job summary

BEAR Scotland is seeking an Installation Operative to join the Vehicle Restraint System squad. The role involves erecting and removing crash barriers, installing road furniture, and operating power tools on busy trunk roads across Scotland; travel and site visits will be routine.

A driving licence is essential and training will be provided. Ideal candidates will have LGV Class 2, NHSS 12D, and experience with excavators, lorry loaders, and signallers.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Roadworker with the skills to undertake a range of road maintenance operations.
• Flexibility for shift work.
• There is a requirement to undertake training and to progress to the next level of job.

Responsibilities

• The erection and removal of temporary and permanent crash barriers, as well as traffic management signs.
• Installation and fixing of temporary/permanent road furniture.
• Operation of power tools, small plant and machinery.
• Driving vehicles including those with simple attachments such as tractors.
• Provide support for specialist VRS team members.
• Health and safety responsibilities for the public, colleagues and yourself.
• Standby and winter maintenance rota participation.
• Winter maintenance duties including fitting gritter body and blade, driving gritter and salt spreading as required.
