Job Title: Vehicle Maintenance Technician

We have a rare opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our Engineering Team as a fully skilled Vehicle Maintenance Technician based at our Vehicle Maintenance Unit in Slough.

Your Role

As a Vehicle Technician, you will maintain FedEx Assets' safety and reliability by performing service and maintenance of the company fleet of vehicles and trailers in line with planned maintenance schedules. Ensuring that the fleet is safe, legal, and fit for duties.

Details

• Hours: 40 per week
• Shifts: Rotating shifts Monday to Friday, 06:00-14:30 and 14:00-22:30
• Salary: £17.25 per hour. Premium paid for Twilight (19:00-22:00) and Night shifts (22:00-06:00). Premium not paid if sick.

Responsibilities

• Completion of signed service and inspection records
• Completion of defect reports and associated paperwork to comply with legal requirements
• Prepare vehicles and trailers for annual MOT testing to ensure first-time pass
• Perform ad-hoc vehicle repairs, investigating and rectifying vehicle defects
• Ensure the correct and effective safe use of all tools, plant, and equipment
• Maintain good housekeeping standards and perform other duties as deemed reasonable by management

Qualifications and Skills

• Fully skilled with applicable licenses/vocational training (e.g., LGV C&E license)
• City & Guilds parts 1 & 2 or equivalent in commercial vehicle repairs
• Knowledge of automotive equipment and testing/troubleshooting tools
• Ability to lift and maneuver heavy vehicle components
• Experience with welding and basic electrical troubleshooting
• Valid driving license
• Previous experience in a similar role
